Image Protector provides additional measures to help prevent the unwanted duplication, sharing and indexing of images on your Koken site. The plugin is compatible with any theme published by Koken.
Drag-and-drop, right-click override
Images on the web can be easily copied through drag-and-drop, right-clicks, or tap-and-hold on iOS. This plugin helps prevent all of those actions by obscuring access to sensitive images in the browser. Protection may be applied to all site images or a subset so only your largest images are affected.
With image right-clicks you have the added option of displaying a copyright plus any custom text you want instead of the browser's contextual menu. You have control over all the message's style properties including color, text, drop shadow, etc.
Prevents web site visitors from pinning (sharing) your images on Pinterest. This also turns off Pinterest share links in Koken themes.
Prevents site images from appearing in image search results returned by Google, Bing, Yahoo, Picsearch and other search engines. You may block all site images, block image sizes at or above a particular dimension, or turn blocking off by allowing search engines to index all images.
Follow these steps to setup the Image Protector plugin.
Enabling the plugin
After the plugin has successfully downloaded and installed you will be redirected to Settings > Plugins inside Koken. Click the plugin's Enable button to activate the plugin.
Click the plugin's Setup button. A new page will load displaying the following options.
Image Protector automatically blocks all images sized to 800px or larger from Google, Yahoo, Bing, Picsearch and other search engines. This only blocks images from being indexed, not your site in general. If you'd like to raise/lower this threshold you may do so through the Search engines drop-down.
Pinterest is a cool place to collect and share images, but not everyone wants their content appearing there. This plugin automatically disallows pinning of all site images to Pinterest and will display a "Sorry..." message if someone viewing your site attempts to do so. You may allow Pinterest pinning by unchecking the Disallow pinning to Pinterest option.
Image Protector safeguards images against right-clicks and drag-and-drop for images 800px or larger. You may raise or lower this threshold through the Minimum image size select. Public images (visibile to search engines and the general public) are safeguarded by default while unlisted images are left alone. If you feel the need to protect unlisted images too, uncheck the Safeguard public images only option.
(Note: Read Share unlisted content to learn more about unlisted versus public.)
When a protected image is right-clicked you have the option of displaying a copyright message. If you choose to display the copyright, enter a copyright (e.g., "Sebastian Pinehurst") for the plugin to use. A copyright symbol is prepended by default for convenience, but you can turn that off.
You may also display a second row of text in the copyright message by entering text into the Copyright custom text input. Nothing will appear if left blank (the default).
The color of the copyright is set to Auto by default, which means that either Dark or Light is automatically chosen for you after the plugin checks to see how light/dark your site is styled. You may override this by forcing Dark, Light, or go your own way by selecting Custom. Enabling this will allow direct access to all style properties including color, font size, drop shadow and rounded corners.
After making your edits click the Save button at the bottom. Your edits will be immediately applied to your site.
